The Gamecube's Fate
In general, when I get into a discussion about games with a majority of the people I know, I come to find that many of them feel that the Gamecube console was a failure, and really had no strong benchmarks to the gaming audience.
I for one, think otherwise. I feel that it was underestimated, and had much great potential. It took a very large step when it came to graphics when compared to other systems, and it really showed. Games like Star Fox Adventures and Super Smash Bros Melee I thought were great titles to play on the Gamecube.
Do you guys think the Gamecube ended its time in history in the dark, or out in front along with the PS2 and Xbox? And do you think that are any other games on the Gamecube that were worth owning the console? (If you'd like to go into more detail, feel free to make another thread about it within the Gamecube section of the forum.

Re: The Gamecube's Fate
I can see why some people think the Gamecube failed, and it did have alot of faults, but I think it hosted alot of great titles, even if they were shared with other consoles.
Soul Calibur 2
007 Nightfire
Super Smash Brothers: Melee
And who could forget the legendary Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Obviously everyone is entitled to their opinions, but the system was definitely NOT a failure in my eyes.

I don't think it was a failure, but it wasn't great. Compared to the PS2 and XBOX, the graphics were bad, and though there were a few standout games, it just didn't have that big of a selection. When I would play it at a friend's house, I remember thinking of just how... messy the controller felt, how bad the graphics were, ect.
Personally for me, that was around the time that I was starting to go into the realm of more mature games with my PS2. So while I was beating up hookers in Grand Theft Auto, my friend was jumping on mushrooms. I think the Wii is a different story though, because that actually changed things (motion sensor), which made it cool. The Gamecube didn't change anything... as far as I can remember.

I'll never personally think the gamecube was a failure. Hell I still have my little gamecube sitting nearby and play it every now and again. I think it fell behind in the console race because the PS2 and XBOX had a much bigger gaming library, probably because the two systems had many games geared towards older players (so the majority of gamers) that Nintendo didn't want on its family friendly system. This changed later in its life with games such as Resident Evil 4, but it was too late for it as the Wii was released not long after and its console life was ending. However I will always love my little purple lunchbox no matter what.

The gamecube was a revolution in the art of portable gaming systems. There was an attachment that would put a solar powered monitor on top of your gamecube and you could play it, anywhere, charging itself. The gamecube sparked a lot of games that were never as popular, such as Kirby, which was big amongst the hand held world but never on the big screen, which the gamecube easily changed. I love the gamecube as there was nothing released like it, and probably there never will be again. Over all, the gamecube didn't have all the games you wish you could've gotten, but combined with other systems, it was a great addition to any gamer's collection, which is why I still have mine right here with me
Re: The Gamecube's Fate
I never even owned one, but this thread is making me want one, lol. Perhaps I should pick one up, I bet I could get it cheap.
EDIT
Never mind, I guess I could just get gamecube games for my Wii. Woo!
